sunday morning coffee, pt. II.

A cup of coffee on a Sunday morning.

It's a quiet, cold Sunday morning in the Château d'Trash Panda, so it's time for a warm cup of coffee to pick me up and warm my bones. As I wrote on Friday, news on the Internet continues to be awful-like-a-train-wreck— and yet I am drawn to keep scrolling it like a compulsion. It's not great, that's for sure.

Speaking of compulsions— we're eleven months into a year where I've abstained from drinking alcohol! That's pretty dang rad. I didn't have a problem with it, per se, but I felt it wasn't adding anything to my life. And, after nearly a year without it, I can say that it certainly wasn't. Very occasionally, if we're out and about at a taproom or grill I'll snag a non-alcoholic brew from the Athletic Brewing Company because I miss the taste of an IPA. Overall, it's been a very good change.

The weekend has been good to us!

Friday, my wife and I dropped by the thrift store and record shop on our date day. Snagged a few shirts and a few records between the two of us, including Pigeons Playing Ping Pong's Day In Time and Snarky Puppy's Live At Band On The Wall. It's been a good change to get off of Spotify— I'm sure the record sales support the bands we like more than the small pittance of royalty revenue coming from Spotify.

Saturday, we rode our bikes 34 miles for a group ride in the morning, then popped over to our local comic book shop to play some Flesh & Blood with some friends, got some southern comfort food for dinner, and picked up our groceries. In the time between, my wife played some Overwatch 2 and I played Monster Train and some Animal Crossing on a GameCube emulator.

Today, we've laundry to catch up on and a handful of things to get from Walmart that we couldn't get from ALDI. So maybe we'll ride our bikes to snag those couple of things. The weather is supposed to warm up today, so it might be a good day for a visit to the park, too!

Hm, what else? Upgraded the Raspberry Pi 3B+'s OpenBSD install to the new 7.6 release and had to wrangle with my GoAccess configuration a bit. Other than that, it went smooth as usual.

So, yeah! Busy weekend, but good. If I can just keep myself from doomscrolling, that'd be pretty swell.

Until next time, be well! :)
