some good things.

friday, november 15th, 2024.

It's been a tumultuous couple of weeks in U.S. politics and the Internet at large has certainly expounded on that theme ad nauseam. Personally, I've been doing my best to abstain from online discourse to keep my sanity. This is one of those times where it's incredibly apparent that "if it bleeds, it leads." To what end is all this doom-and-gloom? Having steeped myself in the writing of Chuang Tzu earlier in my spiritual journey, I kind of view history on a timeline of thousands of years instead of four. This too shall pass.

My new Casio DW5600 wristwatch.

Anyhoo— life on the local scale is going well. We had a bunch of rain last week, so this week's mostly clear weather has been a nice reprieve. Back on the saddle riding to work. Even took the little one to school today on the e-bike! Also: my new Casio DW5600 wristwatch, pictured above, came in the mail a few days ago and I'm super stoked about that. Today I'm off, so my wife and I are going to enjoy a little date day just the two of us. :)

some fun internet finds.

I mentioned last week that I had gotten rid of my Spotify subscription. To be frank, I haven't missed it much at all! One fun internet radio discovery I've made to fill the music void: Old Friends Radio! They play a bunch of classic jazz, bebop, blues, & big band stuff from 1918-1968. Plenty of deep cuts to enjoy there.

Another fun Internet find: Steven K. Roberts' Winnebiko II. It's an amateur radio lab and computer workstation on a bicycle, steeped in 1980's vintage equipment. Just look at that thing!

My third and final Internet find for today: check out astronaut.io for some deep cuts from YouTube from all over the world. Soccer games, birthday parties, and all sorts of slice-of-life found footage with default camera filenames.

Anyhoo— it's time to get a hot shower on a cold day, visit our local coffee shop, and get this date day started!

Until next time, be well. :)
