Our first large group of bicyclists!

First off, last weekend's bike ride went incredibly well. We had a total of 20 people show up to ride bikes! I was absolutely beside myself with happiness and gratitude. It's one thing to believe that you're doing the right thing and that there's a latent demand for this sort of thing, and it's a whole 'nother for people to actually show up. I've got a big ol' smile across my face just thinking about it! So, yeah— we're going to keep hosting these rides. Some weeks we'll have a small turnout, others we'll have a bunch. But it's all part of the process when building a grassroots organization!

what? not advocacy stuff?

One downside to becoming involved in advocacy is that it's real easy to make this my whole personality. To overly invest myself in the outcomes. As a matter of fact, my wife called me on it just this week— they said I really should take some time off to game or do something enjoyable just for me.

And they're absolutely right, though I'm reticent to admit it.

I've been playing SKALD: Against the Black Priory a bit since it came out on May 30th. It's been a lot of fun! I love the aesthetic, of course, but the writing has been drawing me in more than I had expected! I'm not proud to admit it, but I'm often the sort to speed through dialogues once I get the gist of something, but something about SKALD makes me read every single word.

Other than that, I've been putting a lot of miles on my new bike. Last month, I rode 300 miles and I'm certainly on track to top that this month! I went a week without driving until Wednesday, when I loaded my bike into my car in order to go to a group ride with a cycling club. We've been managing all our grocery shopping by bike, which I'm awfully proud of.

Strangely enough, mostly I just get fidgety when I sit down at my computer for too long these days. I guess sitting at my desk at work all day and getting all this good outdoors time has sort of reset my ability to enjoy a computer desk. 😅

I suppose that's all for now! Until next time, be well. :)
