what a busy saturday!

It's a bit chilly this weekend, so alas— I can't properly go out and enjoy our new hammock. Yesterday, I wound up doing all the things and getting a bunch of errands done. Grocery shopping and laundry, the things I usually put off until Sunday.

I also put in a bit of work for our new cycling advocacy organization! I ordered 500 business cards on recycled paper from VistaPrint, featuring the logo my partner drew up, a brief description of the organization, and a link & QR code to our website in case folks want to read our newsletter (and hopefully subscribe).

Our organization's website is just a basic WordPress.com one— I wanted something simple and straightforward since I won't be the only one writing on it. I messed around with the website's theme and found a really minimal one with a responsive layout and a prominent "sign up for our newsletter" form on the front page. The gist is that I don't want to tie our organization to any typical social media— I'd rather this be an email list that guides folks to meeting in person than anything like a Facebook group.

Finally, I replaced the lorem ipsum placeholder text with an actual introductory post, explaining my own bicycle commuting background story and how the organization came to begin. As my friend and I keep attending council meetings and keep up with local news, we plan to post regular updates to share all the relevant transportation and recreation news on the newsletter.

So, yeah— yesterday was busy as heck! I'm excited to see how those business cards turn out. Today, I reckon I'll actually try to wind down and relax a bit since all the chores are already done. We still need to *cough, cough* take down our Christmas tree. I suppose we should do that. 👀
