heal up, buttercup.
friday, may 1st, 2026.

It turns out that last week's bike adventures weren't without folly— I absolutely ate it while taking a turn too sharply on a gravel road. The wheels just slid out from under me and I got a nasty road rash on my left shin.
The healing process has been... arduous. Cleaning, disinfecting, and rewrapping my wound twice daily. My wife has been taking such good care of me, but I'm glad that I'm off of work today so I can let it air out and scab up properly instead of hiding behind trousers. I suppose it's a little serendipitous that it's been rainy this week so I don't feel guilty about not riding my bicycle to work!

We've had friends staying with us while their house gets some foundation and plumbing repairs done. It's been kinda fun having dinner all together on our porch now that it's cleaned up and a great place to relax and entertain company. They cooked dinner last night for all of us and I've got some delicious leftovers to look forward to for lunch today as I stay home, rest, and recuperate.

Other than that, I've been enjoying my most recent foray into retrogaming. Ninja Gaiden has been a fun romp down the "Nintendo hard" rabbit hole. I've also started playing Dragon Quest V on my modded 3DS in the evenings as I lay in bed before sleep. At some point, I should probably get back to reading books but at this point I'm just happy I'm not grinding Flesh & Blood games mindlessly on Talishar.
Anyway, I can't wait to get back to being able to ride my bike! Games are fun, but the weather is too good to be cooped up inside all day! Also, Zippi was keen to remind me that outdoor fuckin' starts today. 😅
Until next time, be well. :)
