building the huntsman.

I continue to be obsessed with this darn shiny cardboard game, Flesh & Blood. I reckon that's about half a year now of learning how the game plays, the deeper mechanics, and figuring out which hero's playstyle most vibes with me. I've been running a mark variant of Nuu since Hunted came out. That said, she's going to LL sooner or later, so I asked some friends in an Assassin-focused Discord server about some of the other Assassins I might pick up. As one could probably surmise from the title of this blog post, I latched onto Arakni, Huntsman, arguably the "worst" of the assassins with only 13 LL points.
I bought the marvel hero card of Arakni, Huntsman (seen above) for $63 and started playtesting the heck out of a decklist, making small tweaks as I learned the playstyle and with the advice of my Assassin-maining friends. I've arrived at a decklist that feels comfortable to me, which I've called "Contractually Obligated."
I've traded for some of the cards locally and ordered others. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the mailman to bring me the rest of the deck. I've fallen in love with the Japanese masks in Flesh & Blood.
I'm surprised at how differently Huntsman plays from Nuu— Nuu is trying to pull cards from your hands with a mid-to-slightly-aggressive stance and Huntsman is incredibly defensive, turtling while their opponent tires themselves out and striking when the iron is hot to damage both deck and health. It's slow, it's calculated, and I'm absolutely hyped to bring a physical Huntsman deck to our local armory as soon as the cards come in.
One of our locals mains Vynnset, Iron Maiden, who only has 102 LL points as of the time of this writing. He's definitely an inspiration in picking an "off-meta" hero who won't be retiring anytime soon. I want to get really good on a "bad" hero and keep playing the same deck for years to come!
Until next time, be well. :)
