Baked goodies during our annual baking day.

Today's our last full day with the eldest kiddos and today is our annual Baking Day. It's our regular tradition at my folks— although it's usually the week before Christmas and I'm unable to attend. This year, we're all present and accounted for and the goodies are delicious. Is it even a holiday if you're not overeating all the sweet treats?

Playing Flesh & Blood with my eldest.

We've been playing a ton of Flesh & Blood, of course— I got my eldest into it and she's been having an absolute blast deckbuilding and looking into the game lore. Yet another one has been welcomed to the F&B fold! We've also had a turn at the board game Carcassonne, which was a staple in our house before our eldest was even born!

Visiting the record store.

Since our middle one had a gift card for the local record store burning a hole in their pocket, we dropped by yesterday so they could pick out a few records. We left with three and a depleted card. They actually brought the portable record player they'd gotten for Christmas so they were able to listen through their new records while we were playing Carcassonne last night.

The cart and box for Changeable Guardian Estique.

I'd ordered a new NES game, Changeable Guardian Estique, which came in the mail yesterday as well! Just a little late Christmas gift to myself. :)

The title screen for Changeable Guardian Estique.

I played through the game in one sitting on the easiest difficulty setting, "Normal." There's two more: "Hard" and "God of Game," which are fully living up to the shmup bullet hell that the game promises. It took me many attempts to finish the final boss, even on "Normal," so this game definitely has legs if I want to fully master it.

Truth be told, I love these old-school games that I can complete in one sitting! There's no fluff to get those game hours up— only the limits of your own gaming skills.

Anyway, these baked goods aren't going to eat themselves! It's such a cozy way of finishing up our holidays with all of the family.

Until next time, be well! :)
