distracted by shiny objects.

Man, it's been a few weeks since I last wrote here and that's pretty darn unusual for me! Truth be told, I've been thoroughly preoccupied with Flesh & Blood and playing a bunch o' video games for the last little while. Last month, I wrote about a Nuu deck I built.
At the behest of one of the veteran players in my group, I picked up a bunch of cards that were good for my hero before they went up in price with the new assassin coming out in the next set, The Hunted. Those cards included the headpiece, Mask of Recurring Nightmares, seen below.
How did my deck fare at the next Blitz armory event at my local game store? Put succinctly: I got my ass handed to me. 😅
Nuu has been doing phenomenally in the longer "Classic Constructed" tournament format, but she's really not a great hero for the faster-paced, lower HP "Blitz" format. Most Blitz games are over in just a handful of turns, while Nuu wants to play slow and bide her time to transcend and mill her opponent's deck down while staying alive.
So anyway, I redid her deck list on FaBrary. I won't belabor the list here, but the general theme is to care less about transcending and focus on dealing damage and controlling the opponent's hand & resources by using cards like Intimate Inducement and Siren's Call to force the opponent to block into stealth cards like Art of Desire: Mind. Basically, I'm largely ignoring Nuu's transcend ability, instead focusing on her first ability: your attacks with stealth get "when this chain link resolves, banish all action cards defending this."
on bicycling and bicycling-related activities.
Between the holidays, the rainy weather, and catching a cold that dragged on just a little too long, I haven't been biking as much as I'd like. Even my regular cycling group has been cancelling rides due to the cold and low attendance.
So right now I'm in this kind-of limbo— it feels a bit like being a bit of a cycling advocate imposter because I'm not actively doing anything to move the needle for bicycling in my city, nor have I even been riding. I have to remind myself of one thing: we're planning on starting our 501(c)(3) early next year, which is when we can really start actually collecting funds to make stuff happen. It's okay for stuff to not be happening right now.
holidays!
The holidays are upon us! It's a week and a half until Christmas, and my father-in-law is coming to stay with us next Saturday. Plus, I'll have the last week of the year off! Pretty pumped about that. We got the bulk of our gift shopping done Friday— we bought all of our things at local stores, which I'm pretty happy about.
Although the commercialism of the holidays isn't my favorite, I do really love the holidays— it's a great time to spend time together with your family! It's a cozy good time and it's super nice to step off the trading-time-for-a-paycheck treadmill for a little while. To play board games, look at Christmas lights, and have cozy meals at home.
I suppose that's all for now. I hope the holidays are good to you and yours!
Until next time, be well. :)
