a little too indoors.
sunday, december 3rd, 2023.
It's been a weird couple o' weeks here at the Chateau d'Chötrin. Coparent found out she had COVID after our kids stayed for the holiday, so we wound up isolating at home just in case we caught it, too. Worked from home a lot, went for plenty of runs and bike rides but I think I've been spending just a little too much time indoors as of late. It makes me antsy!
I think mostly I miss my bike ride to work! It's a time of introspection, watching the sunrise, and getting some good aerobic exercise. I miss it a lot. I'm really looking forward to getting back started tomorrow! It's been threatening rain or drizzling all weekend and I'm definitely feeling the cabin fever. My partner and the little one spent yesterday doing Christmas crafting and we'll be putting up the Christmas tree today. I love the holiday cheer, but my god do I ever need to get some fresh air! 😅
I've been playing SimCity 4 quite a bit lately. It's been pretty fun playing with the levers of local government and drawing neat districts and transportation systems. The fan-made Network Addon Mod (NAM) has added all sorts of neat multimodal transportation to the game. Alas— bicycle lanes aren't really a thing in SimCity 4, but it's still a whole lot of fun trying to keep all the sims happy and gainfully employed.
I suppose that's all for now. Man, I'm looking forward to this dreary weather passing and getting outside again!
Update @ 6:15pm: well, I went for a run and felt a lot better afterwards. I suppose I just really needed to get outside. We set up our Christmas tree today, and the little one is losing her dang mind with excitement for the holidays. It certainly feels a lot more festive in here!
My friend and eventual nonprofit partner in crime sent a link to the city council meeting agenda for tomorrow— it looks like a big ol' transportation referendum is on the docket and improving infrastructure for alternative modes of transportation is part and parcel of the whole deal. Plus provisions for community involvement... that's US! Super excited to see that referendum pass.
Until next time, be well! :)
