back in the saddle.

saturday, july 15th, 2023.

Well, it's been a week since my last writing here and the ennui has subsided a bit!

What have I been up to? Well, a lot of bicycle commuting, of course. But I also tried out Meta's Threads and finished the main campaign for Diablo IV. The latter gets much better reviews than the former. I poked at the endgame content for Diablo IV a bit— it feels a bit more fleshed out and diverse than Diablo III's bounty and rift system, but I've only got maybe an hour and a half into it. The first season is about to start on July 20th. It'll be interesting to see how the seasonal content works in this game!

Threads, though. Oof. It's been so long since I've been on any of the Facebook platforms. I created an account, poked around for all of about 30 minutes, and promptly deleted my account. Both Instagram and Threads are filled with influencers and product placement and the commercial, ad-driven nature of it is just so in-your-face. Maybe it's because I hadn't followed anyone yet, but it felt a bit like the online equivalent of walking into Times Square.

So, yeah. Don't think I'll be missing anything by not participating there. 😅

I ordered a Park Tool chain scrubber to get the road grime out of my bicycle's drivetrain. I've been using wheel & tire cleaner, shop towels, and my leaf blower to get my chain and cassette clean, but it'll be nice to get some bristles deep into the moving parts.

The weather has been touch and go here in middle Georgia. Lots of pop-up showers and thunderstorms. I guess that's just summer here, but it becomes way more apparent when you get caught in the rain on the way home three days in a row!

We'll probably go to Waffle House for brunch and visit the lake for the day today. I love this weekend routine of ours! It's threatening to rain this afternoon, but I hope we'll at least get some quality time at the beach today.

Until next time, be well! :)
