Ohmigosh, Diablo IV was finally "released" at 7 p.m. today! And so it begins...

I've not played any of the open beta, nor have I ponied up for the early release mega deluxe version. I'm not particularly keen on spending extra money on cosmetics nor any sort of "season pass." I'm mostly going in blind, except for all the good things a coworker, a diehard Diablo fan, has told me.

I'm about an hour in, and it is good so far.

I like the dark atmosphere a lot. It has the same sense of gravitas and horror that Diablo II did, but with a nice smattering of the gameplay improvements its sequel introduced to the series. Mostly I love that I can play with a controller on the PC version.

So, yeah. I'll be playing this for a while. I'm sure I'll post more about the gameplay as I get deeper into it and approach the endgame and build optimization, but for now I'm savoring the storyline for the first time— one bite at a time.
